Welcome to my website. I have been turning wood for 20 years and for the first 8 years did mostly architectural turning; porch and stair spindles, chair parts, etc. for antique dealers and contractors. Then I did more artistic turning and when I started doing bottle stoppers, the only style available were the long pointed chrome-plated style and I did not like them.

I put one of the chrome stoppers on my son's metal lathe, cut it down to a shape I liked and asked a local machine shop if they could "make this in stainless steel". We got 15 different brands of empty wine bottles and, after trying several angles, lengths and number of o-rings, found the one that fit all the bottles. Thus was created the SS Niles Bottle Stopper.

The design became so popular the owners of the machine shop,
Stef and Eric, and I got a patent together......it's a lot like being married!

   My stoppers will always be made at Steer Machine Tool & Die in Pennsylvania. I firmly believe we should keep our "economy" in this country.
